Lip Blush

Lip Blush | Lip Blush Tattoo | Permanent Lip Colour | Enhance your lips without filler

Here are a few of the benefits that make lip blush great:

  • Colour that won’t transfer onto your teeth or glassware!
  • Helps to improve lip symmetry, makes lips look more full and defined
  • Corrects colour loss after having lip filler
  • Re-builds shape and masks scars for those who have had reconstructive lip surgery
  • Gloss-and-go lifestyle

HEALING: Lip blush lasts about 2-3 years before needing a colour refresh, and heals the most quickly of all permanent makeup procedures!

  1. You can expect to feel some tenderness for about 24-48 hours post-procedure, and your lips will be fully healed in 5-7 days.
  2. There is ZERO downtime with lip blush! However, if you dermal fillers, you should expect to see more swelling immediately after the procedure, so you may want to avoid booking any important events right after your procedure.
  3. The initial colour you see will lighten by about 50% within 7 days of the procedure. Over the next 3-6 weeks, the colour will soften and become even more natural-looking as it settles into your lip tissue.
  4. Your healed result is completely customizable! We can create a barely-there, subtle enhancement OR we can give you a more defined shape and colour. The choice is yours!

IMPORTANT: If you have *ever* had a cold sore, you will need to obtain preventative medication to take 3-5 days before and after your procedure. This can be easily obtained at your local pharmacy, or from your family doctor (Cyclovir or similar).

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR PERMANENT MAKEUP:

  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are currently taking blood thinners (first, talk to your doctor to determine if you can safely go off of them prior to your appointment, and resume taking them immediately after your service is complete)
  • If you have undergone Accutane treatments any time within the past 6 months
  • You must not book a permanent makeup procedure within two weeks of receiving botox or filler injections
  • For eyeliner services only, glaucoma is a contraindication. If you have this condition, other services are okay to book.
  • If you have previous permanent makeup work, you MUST send a photo before booking. If you book and arrive at the studio with previous PMU work that I have not approved for cover up work, I will not be able to complete your service and you will forfeit your booking deposit.

NOTE: If you are over the age of 55, please send a well-lit photo of your lips to forever.flawless.pmu@gmail.com before booking your lip blush procedure

Natural Lip Blush

Natural Lip Blush healing barrie

  • Colour Selection - lips will fade about 50% from the initial colour we choose. I always recommend opting for a brighter and more intense colour than you want to see in the end… Your end-result will be a combination of your natural lip colour PLUS the colour we select for your lip blush.

  • Natural Healed Results - your lip blush healed result will be much softer and less defined than what you see after the initial procedure. Red tones will always heal out to a shade of pink, and level of saturation (i.e. how much pigment I place in your lips) will really determine how natural or bold your final look will be. We’ll discuss your healed expectations thoroughly before we begin the procedure!

  • Pain & Procedure Expectations - Your lip blush appointment will begin with a thorough consultation and mapping of your lip shape. Clients are kept comfortable throughout by using a numbing cream before we start, and again during the procedure. The vast majority of my clients are comfortable throughout, with tenderness only towards the end of the appointment.

  • Lip Blush & Cold Sores - Please note that if you have had a cold sore in the past, a lip blush procedure is likely to trigger an outbreak. Lip blush does not cause cold sores, but if you already carry the virus,  it does increase the likelihood of a breakout if you do not obtain a preventative antiviral from your doctor in advance. See Pre-care information for more details.

Healing:
5-7days to heal completely, 6 weeks for full colour to develop

  • Limit UV exposure during healing time, keep the area clean, and do not apply any makeup in the area for 1 week
  • Swelling and tenderness will subside within 24-48hrs
  • Lips will look darker/brighter days 1-3, and will then peel and reveal a soft glow underneath
  • Colour may look very light day 5-14, and will slowly bloom back 3-6 weeks after your initial procedure

See the PRE-CARE and ATERCARE page for full details!

Dark Lip Neutralization

If you have dark lips that you'd like to lighten OR balance out, we can do that!

Dark lip neutralization is a cosmetic procedure designed to correct and balance the color of dark or pigmented lips. This process is typically completed over multiple appointments.

Typically, the first appointment  involves the application of specially formulated pigments that neutralize the dark tones, resulting in a more even lip colour. The colour applied will typically be a bright orange or very light pink, depending on the natural undertones of your lips. This appointment is *not* about achieving your favourite lip colour, but instead is meant to create a more evenly-coloured canvas to work with.

After your initial appointment, you will book a perfection session anywhere from 8-12 weeks later. The time between your appointments will be determined on a case-by-case basis, but generally speaking, the darker your lips are initially, the longer we will wait between sessions.

Once your lip tone has been successfully neutralized, we will determine your target lip colour, which will be applied at your perfection session!

Dark lip neutralization requires patience, but the results are worth the wait!

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at forever.flawless.pmu@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I always block 3 full hours for any lip blush service. This includes time for paperwork, photos, mapping the lip shape, and setting you up with aftercare. The procedure itself typically takes anywhere from 1-2 hours.

Over the years, I have developed a technique that keeps the vast majority of my clients comfortable throughout the procedure. I use a numbing cream on the most sensitive areas before we start the procedure, and will also apply numbing throughout to keep your pain levels manageable while I'm finishing my work. In fact... Many of my clients fall asleep during their lip blush!

Some areas are more tender than others. However, with any cosmetic tattoo, discomfort may be felt *during* work on the sensitive areas, but the sensation stops immediately when the machine stops running. In other words, YES there are places that might not feel the greatest... But it's not like going to the dentist where you'll experience persistent aches from the moment the procedure begins. You may feel about 30 seconds of discomfort, then it will stop as we move to work in another area. You can expect a warm, prickly sensation, and also times where you'll feel next to nothing!

We provide detailed aftercare instructions to help maintain your results. You'll be instructed on how to clean, moisturize, and protect the area for 5-7 days after the procedure. After this time, you may resume your regular routine.

The most important part of any permanent makeup procedure is keeping the area clean, and avoiding excessive UV exposure while the skin is in a delicate state. Lip blush heals the most quickly of all permanent makeup procedures, and doesn't require any downtime!

You should know that IF you carry the HSV-1 virus, lip blush is likely to trigger an outbreak. While lip blush does not cause cold sores, it can result in an outbreak on those who carry the virus as it involves trauma to the lip tissue.

A breakout can usually be avoided by talking to your doctor to obtain anti-viral medications prior to your procedure. Typically, my clients are provided with Valtrex, Acyclovir, or similar for 5 days before and after their lip blush procedure. However, your doctor will prescribe the dosage they see fit, so please refer to their expertise!

In preparation for your lip blush procedure, you should:

  • Exfoliate and moisturize your lips before bed each night (you can use your toothbrush or a sugar scrub, clean the lips, then apply Aquaphor, La Neige night mask, or similar!)
  • Drink lots of water - hydration hep ensure your lips are in the best shape possible
  • Avoid picking at or biting your lips
  • Ensure there are no dry patches or dead flakes of skin on your lips before your appointment

Remember; an artist's work only looks its best on the proper canvas. If you arrive with dry, sun damaged, flakey lips... We can't work miracles! Healthy lips result in smooth, even colour.

Please put in the work to ensure your lips are in optimal health!

Of course! In fact, I love working on lips with filler.

You should know that lips with filler are more likely to swell post-procedure, so you may want to allow yourself an evening without plans on the day of your procedure. Other than that small caveat, lip blush is an incredible way to restore lost colour and define your shape post-filler.

Please allow a minimum of 3 weeks for fresh filler to settle before you come in for a lip blush. If you've had your filler for longer than that, you can book any time!

You sure can!

If you decide to get filler after you've had a lip blush procedure done, please note that you *may* require a touch up after your filler settles. The filler will stretch out your lip tissue, thereby dispersing the pigment and making it look lighter. You might love this look, or you might want to add a bit of colour to make your lip blush pop more once you've reached your filler goals!

Please allow your lip blush to heal for a minimum of 14 days before adding filler to your lips.

You must forego makeup for 7 days after you complete a lip blush procedure, but after that, you're welcome to use any products you'd like!

You can use a lipstick to change the shade of your lips, just as you would have done prior to having lip blush. You may also use a tinted gloss to really make your lip blush pop!

The choice is entirely yours, but most of my clients find that they're so happy with their healed lip blush that they just apply lip balm most days, and save the makeup for special occasions.
